When one thinks of Texas Tech University, immediately thoughts of tradition and spirit come to mind. Many ask about the group who upholds and encourages the furtherment of these traditions. The Saddle Tramps have been TTU's premier spirit organization since 1936 when Arch Lamb created the organization to help encourage the student body to become more spirited. Since the founding of the organization, Saddle Tramps has been part of numerous campus traditions and continues to be the upholders of TTU tradition and spirit.
The Saddle Tramps are present and cheering at each home football, basketball, and baseball game. The members of Saddle Tramps can be seen wearing the traditional red work shirt with the black letters on the back boldy stating "SADDLE TRAMPS". If you ever have questions about Texas Tech University, feel free to ask any member of the organization and he will gladly assist you. The Saddle Tramps are required to learn about each and every aspect concerning Texas Tech University and its history.
Although it might seem like there are far more members, the organization is limited to 100 members at any given time. Each fall and spring semester within an academic year, rush occurs and the organization will invite young men to become pledges for the organization.
